Biography

Vivo em Lisboa onde nasci em 1970.
Após o ensino secundário na Escola António Arroio onde abordei estudos de Artes Plásticas no Atlier Livre AT.RE  e Cerâmica no curso tecnico-profissional, terminei o curso superior de cinema da Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema em 1993 e trabalhei em televisão até 1998 nas áreas de realização e produção.
Nesse ano decidi mudar de rota e estudar fotografia porque era um desejo antigo e muito forte.
Fiz o curso do Ar.Co – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual, entre 1998 e 2002 em Lisboa. Nos dois anos finalistas e de estudos avançados dos 4 que compõem este curso, fui bolseira pelo BES e pela Kodak.
Dividida entre actividades e após estes estudos, ainda colaborei como chefe de produção na rodagem de uma longa metragem independente e fui também anotadora durante um ano numa série humorística para televisão e líder de audiências. Só depois disso desenvolvi trabalho autoral e comercial em fotografia de forma exclusiva, iniciando-me com projectos autorais e reproduções de obras de arte.
Colaborei com o colectivo de fotógrafos Kameraphoto, entre 2003 e 2008, onde realizei alguns projectos e exposições colectivas e individuais.
Entre 2003 e 2012 desenvolvi também muito trabalho fotográfico editorial, retrato, projectos documentais, entrevistas, restauração, produto, alguma arquitectura, etc.
Este trabalho foi realizado para revistas, catálogos, livros e publicações diversas como a Grande Reportagem e a NS, o encarte de sábado do DN , entre outras, incluindo uma colaboração regular de dois anos, desde o primeiro número, no jornal i que apresentava um projecto enovador e diferenciado no design e edição fotográfica.
Nesse período ensaiei vários projectos documentais em video, que me são muito queridos mas não consegui terminá-los por várias razões que se prendem com a vida em geral.
Em 2012 leccionei a disciplina de Projecto no ISEC, no Curso de Fotografia para nível 4 (12ºano), para a qual também estruturei e desenvolvi o programa lectivo e objectivos.
Em 2014 participei na recolha e selecção do material de arquivo no ANIM e nos Arquivos da RTP e criei as imagens fotográficas para o projecto do Centro de Interpretação “O Som da Charneca” na charneca da Companhia das Lezírias, foi um projecto muito importante para mim.
Entretanto chegaram os estágios não remunerados, chegou a Troika, a decadência da imprensa em papel e a desvalorização do trabalho editorial agravou-se com ela.                                                                                        Neste momento exerço outras actividades profissionais em paralelo, onde também me reconheço no empenho e profissionalismo que imprimo no que faço. Continuo a fotografar, a desenhar, a sonhar com projectos e a desenvolver alguns deles.

 

I live in Lisbon where I was born in 1970.
After secondary school at the António Arroio School where I studied Plastic Arts at Atlier Livre AT.RE and Ceramics in the technical-professional course, I finished the higher cinema course at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in 1993 and worked in television until 1998 in the areas of achievement and production.
That year I decided to change my route and study photography because it was an old and very strong desire.
I took the course at Ar.Co – Center for Art and Visual Communication, between 1998 and 2002 in Lisbon. In the final two years and advanced studies of the 4 that make up this course, I received a scholarship from BES and Kodak.
Divided between activities and after these studies, I still collaborated as location manager in the making of an independent feature film and I was also script  in a humorous series for television and audience leader. Only after that period I definitely developed authorial and commercial work in photography exclusively, starting with author projects and reproductions of works of art.
I collaborated with Kameraphoto, a collective of photographers, between 2003 and 2008, where I carried out some projects and collective and individual exhibitions.
Between 2003 and 2012 I also developed a lot of editorial photographic work, portraiture, documentary work projects, interviews, interiors, food, product, architecture, etc.
This work was carried out for magazines, catalogs, books and various publications such as Grande Reportagem and NS, the DN’s Saturday insert, among others, including a regular two-year collaboration, from the first issue, on “jornal i” that presented innovative and differentiated project in design and photographic editing.
During this period, I rehearsed several documentary projects on video, which are very dear to me but I was unable to finish them for various reasons related to life in general.
IIn 2012 I taught the Project discipline at ISEC, in the Photography Course for level 4 (12th grade), for which I also structured and developed the academic program and objectives.
In 2014 I participated in the collection and selection of archival material at ANIM and at the Archives of RTP and created the photographic images for the project of the Interpretation Center “O Som da Charneca” on the Companhia das Lezírias heath, it was a very important project for me.
However, the unpaid internships arrived, the Troika arrived, the decadence of the paper press and the devaluation of editorial work worsened with it. At the moment I carry out other professional activities in parallel, where I also recognize myself in the commitment and professionalism that I imprint on what I do. I continue to photograph, draw, dream about projects and develop some of them.
